How can I turbo my non-turbo vehicle?

The easiest thing to do is to try and find a turbo kit for your particular car. There are many companies out there like HKS, GReddy, APS, Turbonetics, and such that make kits for different makes and models. These kits come with everything needed to convert your normally aspirated vehicle into a turbo charged monster.

If a kit does not exist for your particular car – you can have one custom fabricated. This will require more time and money. You’ll also have to find a good fabricator and tuner. Of course you’ll need a turbo, wastegate, intercooler, and blow off valve to start with. That will have to be fabricated to your engine. After that a tuner needs to figure out how to get you the additional fuel you need to go along with the boost that you are going to get from the turbo. You’ll also need a management system to control the fuel delivery and boost settings. Make sure you find a good tuner that can put this all together or you’re in for a heap of trouble.

What are the advantages of having a rotary engine over a V form or an inline?

I don’t believe there are any real advantages with the rotary engine when compared with the V form or inline. Of course it is much lighter than the latter two variations but it’s just a preference in power plants. Some people like inline engines, others love the V format, while others only believe in rotary power. It’s all a matter of choice.

Can I raise my car to avoid my rear wheel rubbing the fender? Will coilovers help?

If you’re rear tire is rubbing there are a few things you can do. If it is just slightly rubbing than you can take your car to a shop and usually have the fenders rolled. At times it’s the inner lips of the fender well that rub on the tire and once rolled are no longer an issue. Of course you could also raise your car with coilovers but this does not guarantee that your car will stop rubbing especially when you hit big bumps. Check the wheel offset and sizing of the tire. It may that you have the wrong combination for your car.

Where can I find weight reduction and balance how-to information?

There are numerous books on suspension set up and race-car engineering. Just go to amazon.com or visit your local Barnes and Noble. One easy way to reduce weight in cars is to replace body panels with carbon fiber pieces. This includes hoods, doors, hatches, and fenders. If you are turning your car into a race-car you can also remove most of the interior and any sound deadening material. You can also remove your air conditioning system since you won’t be needing that when you circle the race track.
