OPTIMA Completes the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring

Team OPTIMA was on hand this year for the historic Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race held at the famed Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Fl. With attendance exceeding 150,000 spectators, Sebring hosts one of the largest and certainly most historic endurance races in the U.S. With LMP class teams like Porsche, Audi, Puegeot and Panoz, to GT teams from Ferrari, Aston Martin and Chevrolet, the Sebring race brings top teams from around the world for some of the best competition on the planet.

2008 was no exception. For the first time, Team OPTIMA brought its presence to the 12-hour race through its sponsorship of the SVRA (Sportscar Vintage Racing Association). The Team OPTIMA Chevrolet Z06 Corvette received plenty of track time over the weekend. It was chosen to lead the pace laps for six different events throughout the week, putting the OPTIMA Batteries name front and center for the hundred thousand plus spectators. It proved to be quite the hit throughout the weekend with hundreds of fans making their way to the OPTIMA trailer to get a close-up look and pictures of the ‘Vette. Not only did the ‘Vette pace the start of the Historic Trans Am race on Friday, but it opened up the 12 hour race on Saturday by pacing all the SVRA and Historic Trans Am cars for two parade laps for all the appreciative fans.

Team OPTIMA also participated in the Racing for Heroes program. The Racing for Heroes program unites recently disabled U.S. military veterans with racers and race tracks throughout the country. Team OPTIMA escorted SSG Michael Selleh in the OPTIMA Z06 Vette around the historic raceway during the pace laps of the SVRA Enduro event.

OPTIMA was well-represented throughout the weekend. Thousands of racers, fans and spectators received OPTIMA information and gear, and shared many positive stories about OPTIMA batteries. Overall, the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring was a great event for Team OPTIMA.
