Murphy's Law Motorsports & the Griffin King of the Hammers
In the world of off-road racing, the Baja 1000 gets a lot of attention, but another race is also quickly gaining a reputation for being one of the toughest tests of man and machine, the Griffin King of the Hammers. The event has quickly turned into the off-road version of Bike Week, with activities planned throughout the week, culminating in what many consider to be the ultimate desert race. 100 vehicles started the 2010 race, but only 43 were able to finish.
This year's race promises to be even more exciting, as momentum builds for this amazing event. Although there is a last-chance qualifier race prior to the King of the Hammers, most competitors hope to qualify before arriving in Johnson Valley, California. One competitor who did pre-qualify is OPTIMA-sponsored racer, Lucas Murphy of Murphy's Law Motorsports. Murphy is based in Massachusetts and will be making the trek out to the California desert to start in 15th position this year. We wish Lucas the best of luck in what is sure to be a grueling event. If you would like to learn more about Murphy's effort, check out this great article or visit the King of the Hammers website.
