Congratulations to Shea Holbrook & Paul Brown of Tiger Racing!
The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend turned out to be a pretty good one for OPTIMA-sponsored racers competing in the Pirelli World Challenge. Paul Brown of Tiger Racing grabbed the GTS Class win and Shea Holbrook earned the Touring Car class win.
Brown looked as if he had his race sewn up, until his transmission started giving him trouble just two laps from the finish. He pedaled the car home, using just first and fourth gear, getting passed by Jason von Kluge in the final corner of the last lap. However, a post-race inspection resulted in von Kluge's disqualification and Brown's victory. Brown now leads the GTS Drivers' Championship with 373 points.
On the Touring Car side, 21-year old University of Central Florida student became just the second female winner in World Challenge history. Holbrook also picked up the OPTIMA Batteries Best Standing Start award and the Sunoco Hard Charger Award for moving up 14 spots from her 33rd overall starting position on the grid.
