We can't offer you Clapton's Stratocaster, but how about Edwin Evers' Baitcaster?
How would you like to own the exact rod and reel Edwin Evers used to win the B.A.S.S. Elite “Citrus Slam” on Florida’s St. John’s River? It’s even still got the YUM F2 Money Craw that helped him sack up the win tied on!
“This is the rig I caught that 8.13 on the last day,” Evers said. “Now, this is not a new rig. I’ve used it a lot. Let’s just say that it’s battle-tested and tried-and-true.”
Battle-tested is probably a good description of this rig – he weighed in more than 77 pounds of fish over the four-day tournament! Specifically, the rig consists of a 7 ½-foot Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier rod with a Pro Qualifier reel. And yes, it still functions flawlessly.
Evers is giving the rig away through his website, www.edwinevers.com. In fact, he’s going to be giving away cool bass stuff every month. Winner of the rod and reel will be announced on May 1st. Future months’ prizes include a special pack of Evers’ personal lures and autographed jerseys worn (and laundered!) in Elite tournaments. You can enter up to five times each month.
Evers, who started tournament fishing directly out of college, has come on strong as one of the best anglers in the world. He’s qualified for the Bassmaster Classic 10 times during his 11-year career (not counting this year), finished second in the Angler of the Year race last year, and currently sits in fourth place in the AOY standings.
