OPTIMA® Ultimate Power Summit and Sand Hills Open Road Challenge Featured in Upcoming Hot Rod TV Special

Tune in to SPEED™ Monday, April 30 at 10 p.m. EST to see performance automotive aftermarket influencers compete in America’s most challenging open road race and discuss the direction of the performance automotive aftermarket

On Monday, April 30 at 10 p.m. EST, Hot Rod TV will reveal its action-packed episode featuring the performance automotive aftermarket industries top influential media, manufacturers and consumers as they race in the iconic Sandhills Open Road Challenge (SORC) and gather for the first-ever OPTIMA® Ultimate Power Summit. Viewers will witness behind-the-scenes footage as participants battle through a challenging 55-mile rally style open road race and tackle a one-mile shootout amidst the beautiful foothills of Nebraska.

"It’s been amazing to see the growth of the Sandhills Open Road Challenge since its 2001 inception," says Joe Shown, vice president of the SORC planning committee. "Now thousands of spectators come to watch the shootout, parade, road race, and the crowd favorite--the burnout contest." Drivers from more than 40 states and Canada enjoy unrivaled hospitality from residents who open their homes to lodge upwards of half of all drivers and navigators.

The OPTIMA Ultimate Power Summit was held in conjunction with the event to help enhance participation in SORC by introducing the event to influencers who were unfamiliar with the annual Challenge. Throughout the week, consumers, car builders, manufacturers and media came together and tested their best street legal performance cars. Individuals were chosen because of their ability to shape the performance automotive aftermarket. OPTIMA-sponsored attendees included automotive celebrity, Bill Goldberg, and representatives from BFGoodrich, Detroit Speed Engineering, Ridetech, Richard Petty's Garage, Wilwood Disc Brakes, Holley, Hot Rod Magazine, Camaro Performers Magazine, Modified Magazine, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, RENNtech, Jet Hot Coatings and Carbon Kustoms.

In addition to these influencers, the Hot Rod TV episode will also include interviews with many of the high-profile individuals shown in and around the community of Arnold, located approximately 250 miles west of Omaha, Nebraska.

"We definitely value the opportunity to sponsor the Sandhills Open Road Challenge and interact with all of the respected enthusiasts and organizers involved," said Cam Douglass, director of product development and marketing for OPTIMA Batteries. "We are glad we had the opportunity to bring so many industry influencers out to experience this historically sold-out event. Hopefully, this will help bring even more notoriety to the people of Arnold, and the Hot Rod TV episode is a perfect example of that."
