Picking a YellowTop- Just in Case

We love the functionality and versatility of compact pickup trucks- they're not too big, but you can still carry a bunch of stuff around and get decent fuel economy to boot!  Tim Stevens' '98 Chevrolet S-10 pickup is just such a perfect example.

There is nothing over-the-top about this truck that would prevent Tim from driving it on a daily basis, yet when it is time to have some fun on the weekend, his ZR2-optioned truck is trail-ready.

While the engine compartment on Tim's truck is relatively-stock, one upgrade we noticed was the YellowTop OPTIMA tucked in the corner.  The YellowTop is a great choice for Tim's truck, because it offers plenty of cranking amps to turn over his engine and is also designed for deep-cycle use, if he needs to run a fridge while camping or if he ever decides to add a winch.

If you are building up a truck or SUV for off-road duty, we encourage you to consider a YellowTop OPTIMA, especially if you are planning on winching.  Also, keep in mind that the fully-charged voltage on a YellowTop is about 13.0-13.2 volts.  If you've spent the weekend camping and winching, it's a good idea to check your battery voltage when you return home.  If your alternator needs a little help fully-recharging your battery, it's best to recharge the battery with a battery charger, instead of relying on the alternator to eventually fully-charge your battery.  Good luck on the trails this summer and please be safe!
