We want you for the 2013 OPTIMA® Ultimate Street Car Invitational!
Now that you've watched Mark Stielow capture his second OUSCI title, it's time for you to get into the game! Participating in the OPTIMA® Ultimate Street Car Invitational is probably within your reach. Just because Mark Stielow built an 870+ horsepower car, doesn't mean we won't consider anything less.
While the OUSCI was created to find the ultimate street car, a big part of why we put this event on, is to celebrate the enthusiasm people have for their cars and trucks and the wide variety of modifications and improvements they can make to their vehicles, which will allow them to look better and perform at a higher level. That doesn't necessarily mean we expect to find 49 other Mayhem Camaro-level cars and trucks to fill our field. We know that simply isn't possible.
We do like to have a well-rounded mix of cars and trucks, from all the different manufacturers. Some of these vehicles will be heavily-modified, like Dr. Mark Capener's 1,500+ horsepower Lamborghini, while others, like Blue Offutt's Mazda RX-7 will have more modest improvements. One thing all competitors understand is that we are looking for complete packages- not cars with primered hoods or missing door panels. After all, OUSCI vehicles are all on display at SEMA all week and only the best of the best make that show.
Todd Earsley's Mitsubishi Evo is a perfect example. Todd ran in our 2012 Faceoff event at Arlington and won, but because the interior of his car had basically been removed and it probably resembled more of a street-legal race car, he didn't receive an invitation coming out of that event. However, because we knew about Todd's car, we kept in touch with him and when he indicated he was planning on putting the interior back in and making the car look presentable for SEMA, it was game-on.
The bottom line is that the OUSCI is an invitation-only event and if you want to get invited, the best way to get on our radar is to get to one of our qualifying events. Even if your vehicle isn't completely SEMA-ready when you run at a qualifier, if we know about your vehicle and know that it is capable of performing in a competitive situation, we may stay in touch with you as the year moves on (or year to year). In fact, there are more than a few cars that we spotted last year, whose owners indicated they wouldn't be ready for 2012, but had big plans for 2013.
There are now nine remaining announced OUSCI Qualifying events and some are already sold-out. If you are up for the challenge and want to compete in the 2013 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational, we strongly encourage you to get out to one of our qualifying events in 2013-
