OPTIMA® Faceoff Preview- Tony Ramos' 1969 Chevy Camaro
Tony Ramos is the latest member of the Canadian contingency to head south of the border for some Pro-Touring action in the 2013 OPTIMA Faceoff at Road America. Built entirely in his garage, Tony's 1969 Chevy Camaro is a road warrior, if ever there was- Motorstate Challenge, Heidt's, Goodguys Columbus, all events attended by Tony and all of them driven to and from.
There is no trailer in this equation and no professional shops turning wrenches or spraying paint. Ramos tells us this entire build took place in his garage, including the installation of an LS6/T56 combination, a Speed Tech suspension system, Wilwood brakes and a Magnaflow exhaust system. The wheels (which aren't too visible in this picture) come from Rushforth and they are wrapped in BFGoodrich rubber.
At 400 horsepower, it's not the most-potent combination in the field, but Tony's countless road miles have shaken out the gremlins and proven it to be a rock-solid, reliable runner. His prior track experience should also make him competitive in the Faceoff.
