We are proud to announce that GH4L produced a short film (10 mins or less) presented by COMP Cams, based on our popular Gearhead Story series seen here on Gearheads4Life.com was selected as a finalist in the first-annual OPTIMA Ultimate Film Festival during the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) trade show in Las Vegas, November 3-7.

Videographers Derric Curran and Alistair Clark expertly shot and produced the video for COMP, which features Memphis native Will Tucker and his love of Blues music and Tri-Five Chevys. Tucker, who plays the Blues every Friday and Saturday night on Beale St. at B.B. Kings Blues Club, provides the obviously bluesy soundtrack for the documentary. Now at the ripe old age of 22, Tucker is a veteran performer on Beale St., playing on the historic street since he was 14-years old. He has recently released his second album “Worth The Gamble.”

Despite his age, Tucker is an old soul whose passion for the history of music and his three Tri-Five Chevys shines through as he gives each car an almost human-like quality. Whether it is the ’56 4-door he purchased from the Salvation Army in Little Rock, Arkansas, and restored himself when he was only 17, the ’56 1/2-ton pickup he found in a field in Caledonia, Mississippi, or the red ’57 Belair survivor car he affectionately named Gladys after the original owner, Tucker speaks eloquently about what makes each car unique to him.

The first-annual OPTIMA Ultimate Film Festival challenged enthusiasts across the country to submit their most exciting and powerful performance automotive content for two categories: Short Form and Action Cam. The Short Form category films featured a story or documentary about the performance vehicle enthusiast passion and hobby and were less than ten minutes long. The Action Cam films featured a performance moment demonstrating a performance vehicle in action in two minutes or less, shot exclusively on POV action cams.

The finalist videos were shown at the exclusive screening event on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Attendees voted in real-time to select one winner from both the Short Form and the Action Cam film categories to be named the OPTIMA Ultimate Film of 2015.

The final screening event was presented by KN Filters, the Short Form category was sponsored by Holley Performance Products, the voting sponsor was Hawk Performance Brakes and the social media sponsor was Classics Culture. Though we didn’t win, we were so happy to be a part of the first annual film festival and are already planning on our next feature shoot. OPTIMA has already announced that they will have regional qualifying events and Xceleration Media will do our best to make sure that we are a finalist again next year! Until then, please take a look at our Gearhead Story Episode 13 and let us know if you think it was worthy of winning or not! Congrats again to Derric and Alistair for doing a stellar job at capturing Will Tucker’s love of the American Automobile!
