Road Trip- Cars & Cones 2016
There are a lot of folks who believe cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed, although everyone's definition of that varies. For some folks, a simple car show is enough, while others want to get out and explore the countryside. Some take it a step further and do all of that plus a whole lot more behind the wheel, which is why we are so excited about a new event called Road Trip- Cars Cones 2016.
The concept is fairly simple- go on a scenic road trip that includes daily stops for autocrossing and other fun activities. The Road Trip Cars Cones event is scheduled for May 2-6, 2016 and will begin in Concord, North Carolina. From there, it will cover four states, concluding in Southern Indiana. There will be four autocross events spread throughout those five days along with a scenic cruise route and social activities.
Day One- zMax Dragway, Concord, North Carolina, sponsored by Detroit Speed Engineering
Day Two- Smokies Stadium, Kodak, Tennessee sponsored by No-Limit Engineering
Day Three- NCM Motorsports Park, Bowling Green, Kentucky sponsored by Holley
Day Four- Kentucky Bourbon Trail, Louisville to Lexington, Kentucky
Day Five- Sponsored by RideTech in Southern Indiana
A typical day will start with a 100-200 mile cruise, followed by a solid five hours of autocrossing and finish up with a catered dinner and parking lot party. That's incentive enough for most folks to jump onboard, but this event will also offer one of the largest automotive aftermarket doorprize raffles in the country, with more than $70,000 in performance parts scheduled to be given away during the journey. Giveaway items include suspension kits, ultra high-performance tires, big brake upgrade kits, OPTIMA batteries and chargers and even a full chassis giveaway! Nearly all of the raffle prizes will have a $1000 retail value.
So what does it cost to get in on this action? Entry fees are $500 per entrant and that price includes all cruise and autocross events, a goody bag, entry into the doorprize raffle and a catered dinner for two each night. Registration is limited to the first 100 paid entries, so if you want to sign up, head over to www.fm3roadtrip.com and register today!
In addition to OPTIMA Batteries and the previously-mentioned sponsors, some of the other brands involved include Schwartz Performance, Baer Brakes, Forgeline Wheels, Falken Tires BF Goodrich and Raymond's Performance, so you know the doorprizes will be outstanding. Some other cool perks of this event include a run-in with the folks from Brock Yates' One Lap of America. That event will be running the road course at NCM Motorsports Park when the Road Trip- Cars Cones event uses the paddock area for autocrossing. Raymond's Performance will also provide daily emergency concierge service to all participants, so if you have a mechanical issue or require transport, they will pick you up along the route and get you to the next stop.
What if this sounds like a fun time, but you're not sure your ride is ready for all that autocrossing, you just want to cruise along and spectate or you can't make the entire trip? There are also one-day cruise-only entries available for $75. Sign up today and we'll see you on the road in 2016!
