2016 OUSCI- Lingenfelter Design & Engineering Challenge Results

The Lingenfelter Design & Engineering Challenge is what makes the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational unlike any other motorsports event. Many see this segment's primary purpose as preventing race cars with license plates from being competitive in a field intended to be for street cars that can be enjoyed on a racetrack. However, it does more than just that. Design & Engineering also rewards well-rounded vehicles that exhibit great attention to detail in all aspects of their construction. The OUSCI isn't just about who can lay down the fastest times, it's also about who can look good posting those times or doing just about anything else, from cruising down the Vegas strip to being on display at the SEMA Show.

Design & Engineering also makes sure the pendulum doesn't swing too far in favor of SEMA Show cars that look great under the lights, but aren't quite ready (or in some cases, even intended) to be driven hard the street, let alone a racetrack. Does a closer look reveal areas of the car that weren't quite finished in time for SEMA? Does the inside look as nice as the outside? Does the undercarriage look as good as the under hood area? Design & Engineering really forces a competitor to look at their vehicle from top to bottom and make sure they've crossed every t and dotted every i and the bar is raised every year. Here are the results in the Lingenfelter Design & Engineering Challenge from the 2016 OUSCI field-
