Brandon Williams' 2010 Nissan GT-R
Brandon Williams' 2010 Nissan GT-R competes in the RECARO GTS Class in OPTIMA's Search for the Ultimate Street Car series.
Brandon Williams' 2010 Nissan GT-R first made an appearance in OPTIMA's Search for the Ultimate Street Car series at Road America during the 2016 season. While Brandon's sixth-place finish was of little consequence, it was at that event that the hook was set and Williams knew he would make a serious run in the RECARO GTS Class in the 2017 season. Williams competed in five of the seven events in 2017 and running in the first three of the season gave him an early lead in the season-long points chase.
At the 2017 season-opener in Las Vegas, Williams' third-place overall finish in the PowerStop Speed Stop Challenge helped propel him into a top-ten finish (9th place). In the second event of the season, a pair of second-place overall finishes in both the PowerStop Speed Stop Challenge and the Detroit Speed Autocross helped carry him to a fifth-place finish in class. The competition was very tough at the third event and Brandon's Nissan struggled on the road course, but he still posted a seventh place finish at that event. A trio of top-ten overall finishes in the timed events at Pike's Peak International Raceway moved Williams into a sixth-place finish in the RECARO GTS Class.
With a few events off, Brandon returned for the regular season finale at Road America, where his GT-R posted the fastest overall time in the PowerStop Speed Stop Challenge, en route to a seventh-place finish in the RECARO GTS Class and a seventh-place overall finish in the season-long RECARO GTS Class points championship. Not bad for his first full season in the series. Brandon followed that performance up with a top-20 (15th place) finish in the 2017 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational.
Williams is signed up to run at the 2018 regular season-opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, as well as the regular season finale at Road America. It will be interesting to see if he can grab a qualifying spot at either of those events or is able to add a third event to his schedule and look for a points entry and perhaps even challenge for the RECARO GTS Class Championship in 2018. Stay tuned...literally! OPTIMA's Search for the Ultimate Street Car series airs every weekend on MAVTV and past episodes can also be viewed for free on-demand on the OPTIMA Network on Roku.
