Tyler Powell 1972 Datsun 240Z
Tyler Powell's incredible widebody 1972 Datsun 240Z competed in the 2018 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational, presented by Advance Auto Parts
It all started for less than $1000 with two donor cars and has morphed into one of the most amazing Datsun 240Zs on the road today. Tyler Powell's 1972 Datsun 240Z received a coveted invitation to the (invitation-only) 2018 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational, presented by Advance Auto Parts and it didn't disappoint! With a Lingenfelter LS7 under the hood, transaxle & a custom widebody, Powell's 204Z was an absolute show-stopper at a SEMA Show that is as hard to get noticed at, as any show in the world.
After the SEMA Show wrapped up, the Datsun didn't disappoint at Las Vegas Motor Speedway either. The freshly-built car finished in the top-half of the field in the Falken Tire Road Course Time Trial and even better in the Detroit Speed Autocross and PowerStop Speed Stop Challenge. The Datsun Fairlady really stood out in the Lingenfelter Design & Engineering Challenge, where it finished fifth in the field, grabbing precious points and positions in the process. Overall, it came away in 22nd place, which was the highest finishing position for any car that didn't previously-run at a qualifying event in 2018.
