The 2012 Mini Cooper can use any of three different battery sizes- the DH5, DH6 or DH7. Which one is right for your Mini Cooper? That depends on multiple factors. The first thing to do is see which size is in your Mini Cooper right now. Unlike many battery sizes, the DH5, DH6 and DH7 actually make sense from a numerical standpoint, with the DH5 being the smallest and the DH7 being the largest.

While all three of those batteries offer more than enough cranking amps to start any Mini Cooper, the difference in size also comes with a difference in weight between the three of up to 16.5 pounds. If you track your Mini Cooper and are looking for a cost-effective way to shave some weight off your car, a DH6 is about 6.5 pounds lighter than a DH7 and a DH5 is about 10 pounds lighter than a DH6.

However, if you're into car audio or your Mini Cooper has an aftermarket car alarm, dash cam or other significant electrical accessories, then you might want to opt for a larger battery, possibly the largest you can fit in the tray, depending on your usage. Whatever battery you choose, be sure to keep it fully-charged to at least 13.0 volts whenever possible to maximize battery performance and lifespan.

We're so confident this is true, we'll add an additional year of free replacement warranty coverage to your OPTIMA battery, if you purchase a 1200 series battery charger from us at the same time!
