The OPTIMA YELLOWTOP H6, also known as a Group 48 battery and the OPTIMA DH5 YELLOWTOP, also known as a Group 47 battery are both direct-fit upgrades for the 2013 Volkswagen Golf. The battery used in your Golf is likely one or the other, depending on when your VW was built and how it was equipped. Generally speaking, battery trays built for an H6 or Group 48 battery can usually also accommodate a Group 47 or H5 battery.

The best battery for your Volkswagen may depend on how you intend to use your car. Either battery will offer plenty of cranking power to start your engine, but the larger DH6 YELLOWTOP will offer more reserve capacity. This is important, if you are into car audio or you otherwise plan on deep-cycling your battery (seasonal use, etc...). If you track your Golf and you are looking to save on weight, the DH5 YELLOWTOP is the lighter option of the two by about 10 pounds.

Don't forget to maintain proper voltage in your OPTIMA battery whenever possible. For the VW Golf YELLOWTOP, that will be about 13.0-13.2 volts. We're so confident proper voltage maintenance will maximize battery performance and lifespan, we'll add an additional year of free replacement warranty coverage on your OPTIMA battery, if you buy it from us at the same time as an OPTIMA 1200 series battery charger.
