The 2014 Chevy Corvette was the first year of the C7 era and as those Corvettes age, their batteries get closer to needing replacement. While some folks may tell you all batteries are pretty much the same, we can tell you that is definitely not the case. OPTIMA Batteries' H6 YELLOWTOP is a direct-fit upgrade for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, but it has some important features that make it stand out from the crowd of H6 options. Like all OPTIMA batteries, the H6 YELLOWTOP is made with 99.99% pure virgin lead, which helps our H6 YELLOWTOP perform better and last longer than many of the other batteries on the market. The H6 is also an AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery, which means there is no electrolyte sloshing around inside (or potentially outside) the battery.

The OPTIMA H6 also features cast straps connecting the cells, as opposed to the tombstone welds found in most other batteries. These straps provide a more robust connection between the cells, allowing for a better transference of energy- more power when you need it and faster recharging when the battery needs it. That's one of the reasons the OPTIMA H6 YELLOWTOP for Chevrolet Corvettes is rated at 800 cold cranking amps (800 CCA). Not that we expect many Corvette owners to drive their cars in the sub-freezing temperatures (0°C) where CCA is measured, but the 800CCA rating on the OPTIMA H6 does offer an apples to apples comparison to many other H6 group size batteries on the market that don't typically get rated much higher than about 760 CCA. We're also hearing from more than a few folks who are load-testing these batteries and finding the OPTIMA H6 actually delivers far more cranking power than we promise on the label (which isn't a surprise to us).

We do want Corvette owners to remember that many modern vehicles have a significant key-off load that can deeply-discharge any battery in a matter of weeks, if the battery isn't properly-maintained. If your Corvette isn't your daily driver and even if it is, but it only sees short trips, we would strongly encourage you to consider using a quality battery maintainer on a regular basis, like the OPTIMA Digital 400 battery maintainer. Fully-charged, OPTIMA YELLOWTOP batteries measure at least about 13.0 volts and keeping all batteries fully-charged whenever possible will only further enhance battery performance and lifespan.
