If you have a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, your truck came equipped with one of six different engine options, from a 4.3-liter V6 up to a 6.2-liter V8. These engines came in a mix of gas, flex fuel and even a MHEV option. Regardless of the engine or fuel type, two OPTIMA batteries are typically suggested as direct-fit upgrades for these trucks, the DH6 and DH7 YELLOWTOPs.

Generally, many vehicles can accept either battery, but for the ease of simplicity, some may choose to replace with the exact size that they previously-had installed in their vehicle. If you're up in the air about which battery to choose, we can tell you the DH7 YELLOWTOP is the larger, more powerful and more expensive of the two options. In terms of cranking amps to start the engine isn't really a concern, as both batteries offer plenty of power to turn over any of the six different engine combinations offered.

There is a difference in the reserve capacity of these two batteries, which could have an impact on which battery you select for your '17 Silverado. If your Chevy is highly-modified from an electrical standpoint, with accessories like a dashcam, aftermarket alarm system, winch, aftermarket stereo system, snowplow, etc..., then selecting the larger DH7 may be the better choice. More reserve capacity can offer more runtime and more shallow cycles, which can lead to longer lifespan.

Regardless of the battery you choose, keeping the battery fully-charged to at least 13.0-13.2 volts whenever possible will maximize battery performance and lifespan. We're so confident this is true, if you purchase an OPTIMA battery and a 1200-series OPTIMA charger from us at the same time, we'll add an additional year of free replacement warranty coverage for your OPTIMA battery.
