Best Battery Charger | The Truth

Is everyone really interested in telling you what the best battery charger is? Unfortunately, most websites claiming to share lists of the best battery chargers, whether that's a 12-volt charger for car batteries or chargers for your cell phone battery, don't really care about the best battery charger. They just hope you'll click on one of their affiliate links, so they can earn a commission when you buy a charger from the website where you are sent.
How do these sites come up with their lists of battery chargers? It's a pretty simple process. They go to a very popular online retail website (you can probably think of at least one such gigantic site) and they try to figure out what the best-selling battery chargers might be and then they build out their list accordingly. They may toss in some sentences about their testing methodology, but the truth is, most of the people (or bots) behind these websites don't have the equipment or the knowledge to properly conduct such testing. In many cases, as soon as they get done creating their "best battery charger" list, they're moving on to making other totally unrelated lists for "best barbeque grille" or "best vacuum cleaner."
OPTIMA has undoubtedly benefitted from such lists, because our AGM batteries are some of the best-selling car batteries on such websites. However, in most cases, the information being provided about best car batteries isn't even relevant, because cars typically use a specific size of battery, so the batteries at the top of the list may not even fit in most cars.
Tell Us Which is Best Already!
We are certainly partial to OPTIMA battery chargers and maintainers and we believe they are the best, not just because they can charge 12-volt flooded or AGM lead-acid batteries and 12-volt lithium batteries. OPTIMA chargers are also microprocessor-controlled to make sure they deliver the precise amount of energy your battery needs and have lots of intuitive safety features, like no-spark technology and reverse polarity detection. They can also recover many deeply discharged batteries that other chargers will not charge.
Frankly, we wished for years that some of the other charger manufacturers would come out with chargers that offered the standard features on OPTIMA chargers. Eventually, we decided the satisfaction of our battery customers was too important to put in the hands of another battery charger company, so we came out with our own chargers. In most instances, most chargers work just fine on OPTIMA batteries.
We put that sentence in bold, not just because it is true, but because in many cases, the best battery charger is the one you actually have. As great as OPTIMA chargers are, we haven't figured out how to get them to automatically connect to a battery. That task still requires some input from the owner, but we're making it easier than ever with our POWERLINK system on our ORANGETOP lithium batteries.
When we hear from folks having battery problems, one of the first questions we ask is what was the voltage of the battery and how was that voltage being maintained? That often leads to stories about batteries that sat in storage, connected to a vehicle for months or years, with no thought given to voltage maintenance. The battery charger that was sitting on a nearby shelf that whole time probably would've worked just fine, but they need to take the initiative to plug it in and use it. Now, when you start talking about recovering deeply discharged batteries or charging lithium batteries, you need chargers that are capable of handling those specialized tasks. Not every battery charger out there is anywhere near as capable as OPTIMA chargers are in either regard.
So if you don't have a 12-volt battery charger and need one, the OPTIMA family of chargers is a great place to start. If you already have a battery charger, blow the dust off it and put it to use!
