With all the supercars produced in Europe, one would think the fastest street-legal car in that part of the world would have a more exotic-sounding name than "Pontiac." That's right, Pollymotorsport's 1986 Pontiac Trans Am, backed by a boosted 540 cubic-inch Bowtie big block, beat the Europeans at their own high-speed game, in their own backyard.

Although Paul Arvid "Polly" Blytt's Trans Am has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times on YouTube and has been covered extensively by European media, his car is relatively unknown in this country, outside of the open road racing crowd. That is about to change, as it is entered in the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI), immediately following the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas.

With more than 1,400 horsepower on tap, the real question is whether Blytt's Trans Am can keep its tires on at the OUSCI? If you missed the 2010 OUSCI, add the OPTIMA Network on Roku and watch all the TV coverage from past event for free!
