The main race in the 2026 Griffin King of the Hammers, powered by OPTIMA Batteries doesn't even take place until Saturday, February 7th, but a lot has happened already, including the OPTIMA Jeep Rally presented by Jeep Jamboree USA, Military Monday, the Ford Racing Raptor Rally, the Battle of Soggy Dry Lake, Motorcycles & Coffee King of the Motos, the Sylvania Offroad Class 11 Showdown and the Can-Am UTV Hammers Championship and the TOYO Desert Challenge presented by Monster Energy. If that sounds like a lot, it is!
Events still to come include the OPTIMA Unplugged EV Offroad Rally, powered by Clarios and presented by RCA, the Yokohama Every Man Challenge and of course, the main event that started it all 20 years ago! The Griffin King of the Hammers, powered by OPTIMA Batteries, truly is a race like other (actually, races) in a place like no other. We're in the desert and while admission is required to get into Hammertown, there's no definitive way to know how many people are out here, but by some accounts, it has eclipsed Burning Man in size and is the largest spectator sporting event in the state of California.
It's even more impressive that this all takes place in Johnson Valley, California, where 11 months out of the year, there is no infrastructure in place- no phone reception or wifi, no buildings, electricity, plumbing or running water. It transforms into a city and then back into absolute wilderness and it's pretty amazing. The actual race course is not only open to anyone leading up to the event, but it can end up being changed significantly, as non-racers attempt to navigate the same technical areas that will be used during the race. Even if you're not into offroading, it's worth a visit at least once, just to take in the spectacle of it all.
We're biased, but we'd obviously recommend you join us at the OPTIMA Oasis, but to do that, you need to participate in Military Monday or sign up for one of our offroad rally events with a Raptor (F150, Bronco or Ranger), Jeep or EV. Bookmark www.optimaoasis.com and plan your calendar for next year!
