HOT ROD magazine's Drag Week is an annual drag racing extravaganza, usually taking place at various dragstrips around the Midwest. David Freiburger will readily admit the idea was lifted directly from Brock Yates' One Lap of America event, where competitors spend a week driving to race tracks all over the country, to see who can lay down the fastest times. The concept is the same here, except the format is exclusively straight-line in nature (One Lap does typically include a drag racing stop though).
