The BFGoodrich SCORE Baja 1000 may be the most iconic offroad race in the world and for good reason. It pushes drivers and vehicles to their absolute limits and beyond. Even the "1000" name is a bit of a misnomer, as the 2023 race was actually 1,310 miles. Competitors were given an "official" time limit of 45 hours, but some didn't need anywhere near that long.

Overall race winner, Bryce Menzies finished the race in just over 22 hours and 35 minutes in his Trophy Truck. OPTIMA Batteries-sponsored Trophy Truck racer, Christopher Polvoorde finished in just under 26 hours. OPTIMA-sponsored Pro UTV Open racer, Kristen Matlock finished in 29 hours, 25 minutes and 15 seconds. OPTIMA Brand Ambassador Lance Clifford's Baja Challenge team finished in 36 hours and forty minutes. OPTIMA-sponsored offroad racer, Brad Lovell's stock midsized entry finished in forty hours and 37 minutes and OPTIMA-sponsored Ultra4 racer, Loren Healy's stock fullsized entry finished (and won it's class) in 41 hours and 44 minutes.

Another notable finish was Jose Enriquez, whose Pro Quad Honda finished in 48 hours, 26 minutes and 35.859 seconds. That accomplishment is notable for a couple reasons. There were six entries in the Pro Quad Ironman class and Jose was the only entry to finish. The "Ironman" designation also indicates Jose ran the whole race by himself. Can you imagine even staying awake for two straight days, let alone spending two straight days bombing across 1,300 miles of the Baja peninsula on the back of a four-wheeler?!?

Pretty incredible stuff happens every year at the Baja 1000 and you'll want to check out the photo gallery below, to get a glimpse into the effort Christopher Polvoorde and his team put forth to make it to the finish line.
