Maintaining proper voltage in your car battery whenever possible will maximize car battery performance and lifespan, so knowing what the proper voltage should be in a car battery is good information to have. For most car batteries in use today, typical battery voltage should be in the range of about 12.6 to 12.8 volts, including OPTIMA REDTOP batteries.

However, the chemistry of some batteries can vary, so it's a good idea to consult your battery manufacturer's official documentation if you are unsure of what is considered normal voltage for your battery. OPTIMA YELLOWTOP batteries are designed for both starting and deep-cycle use, so their normal voltage range is about 13.0-13.2 volts.

OPTIMA obviously makes BLUETOP batteries as well and the normal voltage for those batteries is also about 13.0-13.2 volts, except for the 34M BLUETOP, which is the marine version of our Group 34 REDTOP starting battery. Normal voltage for the 34M BLUETOP is about 12.6-12.8 volts.
