There are many who strive to be selected to compete in the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI), presented by Royal Purple and K&N Filters, but only a few are chosen from the floor of the SEMA Show. Dave Pulley's 2010 Shelby Mustang GT500 was one such lucky car. The "Hell Snake " as he calls it, is a package put together by Bangastang and produces a whopping 686 rear wheel horsepower, thanks to forced induction assistance from a Whipple 2.9 blower, producing 17 pounds of boost.

Whiteline Performance Suspension upgraded the entire suspension system, which now includes Eibach springs and struts, upper and lower control arms, sway bars and a Watt's link in the rear. Shelby-branded Baer six-pistion calipers clamp down on upgraded rotors, to keep Toyo rubber in check. The Mustang has picked up accolades at a multitude of car shows, including the 50th anniversary Shelby bash in Las Vegas, as well as first place finishes at Mustang rallies in Sturgis and Steamboat.

Car show victories are all well and good, but the OUSCI also places plenty of weight on track performance. Pulley is new to the OUSCI, so we expect there is a lot of uncertainty on his part as to how the car will perform in the various track events and how it will stack up with the rest of the field. Dave is confident it will do well in the Lingenfelter Performance Design Challenge, although the rest of the elements are largely a mystery and he anticipates equal performance in the BF Goodrich Hot Lap Challenge RideTech autocross, although his big horsepower numbers and anti-lock brakes may elevate his outcome in the Wilwood Speed Stop Challenge.

Dave lists his sponsors as Whiteline Performance Suspension, Silverhorse Racing, Cal Pony Cars, CCC Motorsports, Bangastang and Adams Polishes. Evan Smith also tells us the car will be featured in an upcoming issue of Muscle Mustangs Fast Fords.

If you don't have a ticket to the sold-out OUSCI, you'll be able to see the car on the TV special that covered the event. The OPTIMA Network is a free download on Roku and serves up all the past OUSCI specials, as well as all the seasons of OPTIMA's Search for the Ultimate Street Car TV series.
