The Plymouth Barracuda was produced from the 1964 model year through the 1974 model year, but in 1969, the 'Cuda trim package was introduced and based on the Formula S option, with either the 340 (as pictured above), 383 or 440 cubic-inch engines. Regardless of the engine the 'Cuda was optioned with, OPTIMA Batteries has a direct-fit battery upgrade and in most cases, a couple options to choose from.
In the case of the '70 AAR 'Cuda pictured above with a 340 cubic-inch engine, it has five different OPTIMA battery options in either YELLOWTOP or REDTOP. What are some of the considerations that would make you pick one battery over the others? If weight is a concern, the lightest of the group would be our Group 25 REDTOP weighing in at just under 32 pounds. If your 'Cuda has significant electrical accessories, like an aftermarket stereo, car alarm or dashcam, then we would recommend a Group 34/78 YELLOWTOP that is designed for both starting and deep-cycle use.
One of the best features of OPTIMA batteries that is particularly important to Plymouth 'Cuda owners is that the batteries have a sealed AGM design, which minimizes the chance of battery acid damaging the vehicle.
Regardless of the OPTIMA battery you choose, we always recommend keeping your battery voltage properly maintained with a quality battery charger or maintainer. We're so confident this will maximize battery performance and lifespan, if you purchase an OPTIMA battery from us and buy an OPTIMA D1200+ battery charger at the same time, we'll add an additional year of free replacement warranty coverage to your OPTIMA battery!
