Things have been relatively-quiet lately on the Power Source blog, but that is pretty much the exception in the world of OPTIMA Batteries.  We recently returned from Arnold, Nebraska and the twisting, winding roads of the Sandhills region, where the annual Sandhills Open Road Challenge (SORC) is held every year. We are proud to be a sponsor of this event and support the automotive passions our customers pursue in everything from '49 Cadillacs all the way up to the newest Mercedes.

While this blog has been quiet, our Facebook page has exploded with more than 300 pictures from this event.  We now seem to have a much larger group of people from the Nebraska area who like us on Facebook and we hope they stick around to see what we do during the other 51 weeks of the year.

While we're on the subject of social media, one of the invitees (pictured) to the Power Summit we ran in conjunction with this event was TV personality, Bill Goldberg, who dropped Twitter bombs on our behalf and in support of this event to his 60,000+ followers all weekend long.

If you've ever thought of participating in an open road racing event, we'd certainly endorse the event hosted by the good folks of Arnold, Nebraska and when we say they "host" the event, we really mean it. Arnold's population only numbers about 600 citizens and they all realize that if they are planning on throwing an event and inviting 120 racers (plus navigators and family members), they need to find a place for everyone to stay. As a result, many of the fine citizens of Arnold open up their homes to the participants in the SORC. OPTIMA Jim shared space at a home on West Tyler Avenue with Steven Rupp, the Technical Editor of Camaro Performers Magazine , Hartmut Feyhl, the President of RENNtech, and Ryan Hoffins, Marketing Manager for OPTIMA.

The SORC isn't an event that one can plan on doing at the last minute, as it usually sells out the day after slots go on sale.  For more information, check out the SORC website.  Thank you to everyone in Arnold, Hastings, Callaway and all other corners of Nebraska, who showed us such a wonderful time last week!
