2018 SCCA June Sprints Results- American Sedan

If you've ever been to a road race before, whether it was a local club race or something major, like the 24 Hours of Daytona, you may have noticed a wide variety of vehicles running on the track at the same time, some significantly faster than others. If you didn't know there are often multiple classes running on the track at the same time, it might seem confusing as to why some cars would even show up when other cars are so much faster. While race organizers do their best to try and make sure cars on the track are not completely over-matched by cars in other classes, the differences are still sometimes fairly obvious even to a casual fan.

The SCCA June Sprints at Road America is one such event, where multiple classes are likely to hit the track at the same time and one of those classes is called American Sedan. The SCCA defines American Sedan (or AS, as often noted on the cars themselves) as a class, "comprised of Chevrolet Camaros, Pontiac Firebirds and Ford Mustangs, are production-based chassis with modified suspensions and brakes. Engines are carbureted 302 and 305 CID V-8s that have been balanced and blueprinted."

Unfortunately, class winner, Andrew McDermid's Ford Mustang was too fast for our lensemen to capture in action.
