OPTIMA Batteries do not need a special charger. Most chargers will work just fine with OPTIMA batteries. However, there are two important things to consider. If you have an ORANGETOP lithium OPTIMA battery, you will need to use lithium-specific charger settings or a charger specifically designed to charge 12-volt lithium batteries. The other important thing to remember is that OPTIMA's AGM batteries (REDTOPs, YELLOWTOPs and BLUETOPs) are not gel batteries, so you shouldn't use a gel charger or gel charger settings on them.
As this video indicates, OPTIMA offers a full line of quality battery chargers and maintainers that can charge any 12-volt lead-acid or lithium battery and work great on OPTIMA batteries, but regular battery chargers will generally work just fine on OPTIMA batteries. Maintaining proper voltage will maximize both battery performance and lifespan. Here are the recommended voltages for OPTIMA Batteries:

| Battery Type | Full Voltage |
| REDTOP (and 34M BLUETOP) | ~12.6-12.8V |
| YELLOWTOP | ~13.-0-13.2V |
| BLUETOP (except 34M) | ~13.0-13.2V |
| ORANGETOP | ~14.0V |
