Do the people who work for car battery companies ever get stranded with a dead battery? OPTIMA Jim did last weekend in downtown Milwaukee, when the REDTOP in his Ford 500 couldn't start his car after a night in sub-zero temperatures. Fortunately, OPTIMA Product Engineer, Daryl Brockman doesn't live far from OPTIMA Headquarters in Glendale and that building wasn't far from Jim's car, so a quick YELLOWTOP swap and the Ford was back on the road.
The REDTOP battery in that car was a warranty return that someone else believed was no good anymore and it had been installed in the 500 for several years. The date code on the battery indicated it was manufactured nine years ago, which some folks think is a pretty good lifespan for a car battery, especially one that had previously been deeply-discharged and thought to be dead by the owner (OPTIMA Batteries can last up to three times as long as a flooded lead-acid battery)
Everyone wants to know how long their car battery will last, but there's not a universal answer to cover everyone's question, because no two applications are the same. Even two identical Honda Civics won't have the same owners, who drive the exact same route, in the exact temperature with the exact same frequency. Those factors and others can all make a difference in how long car batteries last, as explained in this video. One thing we do know is that the lifespan of your car battery will be maximized with proper voltage maintenance and we have a great selection of chargers that will get the job done.
