Changing a Ford Bronco Battery

Owners of 2021 and newer Ford Broncos (not the Ford Bronco Sport) can often choose between two battery sizes for their truck- an H6 (Group 48) or H7 (Group 94R). Some Broncos that come from the factory with significant electrical accessories, like a winch, would not have a choice and would always be equipped with the larger H7/94R, while others can run either battery.
OPTIMA Batteries swaps out the batteries on many Ford Broncos as they head into the SEMA Show in Las Vegas and we frequently use larger, more powerful DH7 YELLOWTOPs in place of H6/Group 48 batteries. The reason for this is simple- a larger battery will only help and won't hurt. Many of these Broncos have already been significantly modified from an electrical standpoint with winches, auxiliary lighting, aftermarket stereo systems, dash cameras and a host of other accessories.
The battery is often a forgotten component in that equation but should be one of the first things that gets upgraded. At some point, if the modifications and use become extreme enough, a wiring and charging system upgrade may also be in order. For the vast majority of Bronco owners, simply having a larger, more powerful battery can make a significant difference and a DH7 YELLOWTOP can deliver in that regard.
