Jeep's Gladiator typically came from the factory with one of two engine starting batteries. Those batteries are an H7 (Group 94R) or an H8 (Group 49). The diesel-equipped Gladiators typically use the H8, while the Jeeps running the 3.6-liter V6 engines typically use the H7 batteries. There are a couple specifications we want to draw your attention to regarding our DH7 YELLOWTOP, the first being the weight of the battery- just over 60 pounds. In the world of lead-acid batteries, there is a strong correlation between more weight and more power. You'll have a hard time finding any H8 AGM battery that weighs 60 pounds, even though those batteries are physically larger than OPTIMA's DH7 YELLOWTOP. Some flooded H8 batteries won't even hit 50 pounds!
That extra weight in OPTIMA's DH7 YELLOWTOP translates into lots of cranking power- conservatively rated at 880 Cold Cranking Amps, but if you load test one, you'll probably find it far exceeds that number. It also offers a whopping 80AH of reserve capacity. Can you use an OPTIMA DH7 YELLOWTOP in an H8 application? In almost every instance, the answer is yes and the vast majority of DIN battery trays will allow users (or the auto manufacturers themselves) to move between sizes as needed.
