Harley Davidson Road Glide Battery

Harley Davidson Road Glide battery
Whether you have a 1998 Harley Davidson Road Glide or any model year since, all the way up to 2016, the battery size for your bike is the same- OPTIMA's QUAD30 ORANGETOP. Identifying the correct battery size is the easy part of the equation. Getting to the battery and getting it swapped out is a little more involved and requires the removal of the seat. The battery also sits underneath the ECM, so you'll also need to move that out of the way. You'll also need to disconnect the security system (if your Road Glide came with one) and the purge solenoid.

Two bolts keep the battery hold down securely in place on top of the Road Glide battery. Once that is removed, you can disconnect the battery and lift it out of the bike to replace it. If that sounds like an ordeal, it's not too bad and there are some pretty good Youtube videos that can walk you through the replacement process. However, this isn't a maintenance procedure anyone should perform more often than necessary and OPTIMA's ORANGETOP QUAD30 offers several benefits to Harley owners who are looking to extend their battery replacement window.

The first benefit of the OPTIMA ORANGETOP QUAD30 is that it is a lithium iron phosphate battery, which means it offers significantly more cycle life than a flooded or AGM lead-acid battery. That means you won't need to replace an OPTIIMA battery nearly as often as a flooded or AGM lead-acid battery.

All OPTIMA motorcycle batteries also come with a POWERLINK cable, which serves multiple functions. First, the cable allows you to remotely connect an OPTIMA battery charger to your battery without having to remove the seat. The POWERLINK cable also has an LED display that can indicate the battery's state of charge. The POWERLINK cable also allows you to turn the battery off, to prevent any parasitic drains from the Road Glide from discharging the battery.

OPTIMA's QUAD30 ORANGETOP lithium motorcycle batteries are also significantly lighter than a typical Group 30 battery, weighing just over seven pounds, but you'll probably notice that weight savings most when removing the old battery an installing the ORANGETOP.
